Grateful Everyday

Thanksgiving... a day to gather with loved ones, a day to eat mountains of delicious food, a day to be thankful for our many blessings. Sometimes it is easier to set aside one day to be thankful on, almost as if we fulfilled a duty and now we can go along our way. But what is one day of thanksgiving worth if we don't fulfill the harder task of being grateful everyday? Everyday when the hours are long and weary, everyday when the children are whining and the dinner is burned, everyday when all the mundane tasks overwhelm us. Sometimes it is hard, so hard to remember to stop and count our blessings in the midst of the mess that is so often everyday life. But they are there; a kiss from little lips, a fleeting ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, a crackling fire in the woodstove. And not just to notice all the good things that are so easily overlooked, but to actually give thanks for the hard things, the painful things, the challenging things. This Thanksgiving may we not only give thanks, but stop to remember why we can give thanks in all things... because we serve a great God who gives us grace for everyday, who gives us growth in the hard things. For this may we be truly grateful everyday.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Grateful For...

… a life to live, my husband to share it with, a little boy who makes me laugh, loving families, friends that care, a supportive and wonderful community, all our needs provided, our daily bread, a cozy home, a warm fireplace, a productive farm, a beautiful valley…
… and most of all an awesome God who love, guides, provides, and protects.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

One Year Ago Today...

I married the man of my dreams. We have had a wonderful first year. It has been full of special times along with it challenges. We have already been through a lot together. Adjusting to a new home and life together, finding out we were expecting in December, two trips to California, a newlyweds retreat, growing a big garden, raising various animals for meat, milk and eggs, about a month when Andrew was sick with a colon flare up, and the birth of our little son. Through everything we have just fallen more in love with each other. We have also been learning that God will see us through whatever comes our way. So here's celebrating a wonderful year of marriage. I love you Andrew!

Special Flowers

While at the hospital Andrew surprised me with this beautiful bouquet of red roses and white carnations.

These flowers were from my mom when I left the hospital

Riverfront Park

Yesterday Andrew and I went into Spakane for a fun daytrip, kind of an extended honeymoon trip. We walk around Riverfron Park first but most thing weren't open yet so we went over to the mall and had lunch and watched Fireproof. It was a good movie and very thought provoking. Afterwards we headed back to the park and took the skyride over Spokane falls, went on the carousel, and watched an IMAX movie about the deep sea. On the way home we stopped for dinner at the Mongolian grill, then stopped at Lowe's and picked out some new light fixtures, then did a few errands at Fred Meyers. It was a wonderful day and a special time for Andrew and I together.
