We are the people behind the farm! We are Andrew and Celeste Engell. For us farming is a passion and a privilege. Simple Gifts Farm is the fulfillment of lifelong dreams for both of us.
Andrew grew up on Dunn Mountain near Colville. He has wanted to farm for as long as he can remember. Growing up he experimented with raising many animals, including dogs, horses, and cattle. As a young man Andrew had the opportunity to work at a dairy as well as on a ranch in Nebraska. He eventually got a job in construction and was able to save up enough money to buy twenty acres in Summit Valley. Andrew is intelligent and resourceful. He has a love for learning and researching new ideas.
Celeste on the other hand is from the Central Coast of California. As a girl she loved animals, especially horses. As she grew older a love for gardening developed and she began growing a wide range of vegetables, including unique heirloom varieties. She also got interested in milk goats and began raising a few. Celeste has always been artistic and creative, color and design fascinate her.
Through certain events and mutual friends we met briefly in 2006. Then in March of 2008 we met again, and that is when it all started. After a whirlwind courtship and engagement we got married on September 27, 2008. After the honeymoon we moved onto our twenty acres and began planning and preparing, and so Simple Gifts Farm was born.
We now have a third little farmer in the family. Our son David was born in September 2009. He loves to watch the chickens, play with the hose, and crawl in the dirt. He is a curious little guy and wants to be a part of everything.
