Sunday evening Andrew barbequed burgers and I made wheat free buns. The first barbeque of the season. It was delicious!

Strawberries and Rhubarb
Some sweet friends gave us a whole bunch of strawberry starts and also some rhubarb. We planted three rows of strawberries. That kept us busy this last weekend! It has been so fun planting all these things in our garden. We are looking forward to lots of delicious jam and pies! We also bought an apple and a prune tree awhile ago and just picked them up on Saturday.

Early Gardening
My cabbage and broccoli starts are doing very well. They like the greenhouse that Andrew made out of the stove. The garden fence is coming along. We made some beds and I planted some early cool weather seeds out yesterday. Today we picked up some mulch and got some raspberry plants. We are enjoying the spring weather and looking forward to the harvest.

Baby Chicks
We have forty baby chickens in the house right now. Half are layers and half are meat birds. They are quite cute and fun to watch. This morning I found one of the little Rhode Islands sleeping on top of the waterer. They were all in one box together, but they were getting so crowded that yesterday I separated them into two boxes.

Spring
The weather has been so nice the last few days that we have been spending a lot of time outside. We bought some small trees from the conservation district. Those have all been planted now. We have also been working on getting the garden spot ready. We have been working on the fence and tilling the whole area.
Today we are running errands. We picked up some grape vines to plant, got some garlic and seed potato, and are picking up forty baby chicks. We should be busy for awhile.
