The Garden Grows

The garden is growing well now. These are pictures taken over the last few weeks. We are also just starting to get ripe rasperries. Yum!

Our Big Chickens

Our chickens are doing well and it is almost time to butcher them. Our layers are also doing good, although we lost a couple to a predator.

Back Door Herbs

A few herbs in pots right out my back door. Very handy.

Garden Strawberries

We have had some trouble with our garden. The cabbages were destroyed and the beans were nearly gone also. We had some corn disappearing along with lettuce and beets. We discovered our problem was cutworms, so we began going out after dark and picking them off. The first several nights we found hundreds. Now the population seems to be reducing. We are trying to be diligent so we can get a harvest. One thing that has been doing well are the stawberries. We have been enjoying the ripe berries this past week.

Farm Auction

We had a chance to go to an auction nearby last week. It was very interesting to listen to the auctioneer and ty to keep track of who was bidding. We got some good deals on a few things. We got a pressure canner, some oil lamps, a file cabinet and a few other things.

Apple Blossom White

Our apple and crab apple trees are in full bloom. They are so beautiful. This morning it reminded me of a song... It's cherry pink and apple blossom white, when you're in love...

Yardsales

We have been enjoying spending Saturday mornings going to yardsales. It is so fun to find good deals on items we need. Last weekend we loaded the car up quite full. We got seventeen boxex of canning jars and lots of other stuff, too.
